The still mind of the sage is a mirror of heaven and earth, the glass of all things.
- Chuang Tse
To a mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders- Zen
Stillness................Being still.........Silence....
Visualization is the most powerful capacity of human mind. We can visualize, imagine, dream, memories. It is the biggest bother also. Leave your mind for a while and mind would start recalling all the ghosts from the past, erecting them from their graves. Reliving the past pains, grievances, going to the "What if..." and "If only..." lane. Result, the mind and the body( who, by the way are not two but one ) goes through the whole suffering again.
In the other direction, fears, insecurities of the future take the sleep away from our eyes. If only, if only we achieve stillness, of the rock in the water, of the hills against the skies. If only we achieve the stillness, the universe opens, all ghost fade away, the reality dawns, the true colours strike the eye, the world looks new and fresh, the daily problems also start un-knotting, and finally with the rock line stillness, the secrets of the universe will unfold. My own tenet is " The past never happened,
and The Future will never come,
what we have is Today, this moment, live it"
Even the psychic powers pass you on the way, though getting enticed by them and forgetting the whole jouney there would be foolish like a thief breaking into a jewelery shop and coming out with the doormat. Desire, greed, craving can only beget pain, suffering and loss. Joy is in giving, letting go, these from the mind, going with life, doing your karma, like a worship, like a duty. It isn't that difficult, not that crazy and no no one would even notice. At most, they would consider you not the sharpest tool in the shed, but can they know the bag of gold you are sitting on.
Things happen at their time ordained and jumping high and burning your life, would not happen in a day. Do it with patience, do it with faith, do it with the masterful ease of the painter laying a very fine stroke with a brush held very light. The thin, light and timely stroke of a still mind would work better than the coarse hand of the carver.
Stillness is supreme! Stillness is the Tao! Stillness is the Tao of the Tao!
