Be Selfish, Forgive!

You are unhappy coz you are stressed,

you are actually stressed coz you can not sleep,

you can not sleep, coz your thoughts keep you alive at 1am,

you have thought of painful past and fearful future coz you have bad people in your life,

you have bad people in life coz you see them as evil beings and not humans. Humans who have weakness and humans who err sometimes, humans who give way to emotions and impulses and weaknesses, just like you my friend, humans who did not have somebody to teach them to be better.

you are unhappy because you have not forgiven them. Forgive them from heart. See them yourself in your mind as friends and see yourself embracing them. Forgive all beings on earth, past or present. Forgive and see your world changing to a world of friends, a happier world, guaranteed! Forgive because it is for your own happiness. Forgive beacuse it will make your heart light. Forgive to sleep soundly. Forgive to be happy. Forgive as an utmost selfish act. Tell yourself that you are not trying to be a great man but doing it as a selfish act.

Be selfish,  Forgive!

The Wonder of Words

"Word"

The most powerful Force, The most dangerous Weapon, the most ravishing of all beauties, the body of all creativity, the connection of love, all of this in one, and much much more, is a "Word".

It is said that the world was created from nothingness by a word of God, "Be!".

Words are like seeds. They enter the mind, they hold the ground of the mind-space,and mind it, this is the most fertile of all grounds,of unimaginable scope. The words multiply in the mind, develop new ideas, culminate into actions and then scatter to other minds by word of mouth, written or spoken. then keep infecting and spreading for centuries and millenniums. Wonderful, it is as if the words have a life of their own, like a living microscopic organism, like a virus! As if, they are immortal and they use the minds of persons as carriers.

Religions, Ideologies of Communism, socialism, individualism, revolutions, even the fights for freedom, most of them began with a set of words, some book, some sermon, some speech at some time. In fact, the present science, technology, philosophy all of this said to be evolved out of "Logic" as discoursed by Aristotle and Socrates. These powerful set of words, were so forceful of nature, so as to change the whole world scenario for millenia to come.

Read a novel and you find the words drawing a picture of characters and scenarios in your mind. You find the words also making you laugh, giving shocks, making you cry, playing with the strings of your emotions. The non fiction books keeping you awake at night, thinking, wondering, imagining, debating and all. A love song takes you to another time and place, a harsh word brings you to tears,a one liner splits you in laughter.A proposal of three words brings two souls together for life, a word of "Talaaq" spoken three times breaks the journey of a lifetime.

This is the magical wonder of the "Words".

This immense power can be harnessed by us for the betterment for our lives, our families and the whole world. let us see how.

  • Words being so mighty forces in human relations and human issues, should be used only sparingly without pre-thought over them. A thoughtless action is called a reaction, while a thoughtful action is called a response. So, a thought is all that makes the difference, and should be used before speech,i,e, before opening the mouth, always engage the mind in gear. This, while being a well known rule is also the most violated rule in our lives, and therefore I need to reiterate.
    • Spread positivism and negate the negativism: Removing the words of Never, impossible, bad, etc from language and our mind. Replace them by difficult, needs improvement etc. this will change your outlook and strengthen your relations. Hardly anything is really bad. Since nobody and nothing is perfect in this world, things should be seen in a relative perspective. Even a rickety stool is better than a two legged one, and a two legged stool might be better than having none at all. Let us develop this approach of seeing things in a positive way, which then will reflect in your language also.
    • Instead of rejecting some idea or some proposal altogether, one should think and speak on the lines, that "the idea may be ok, however these and these  issues might come up.
    • Similarly for a leader, the use of words should be of positive, deterministic, absolute, committed nature.  Use of words, such as "us", "let us", "why not" etc also make a hell lot of difference in connecting with people.
    • For a negotiation of all types, which we have to undergo many times a day, with friends, with family, relatives, colleagues, staff and all the words should not be rigid and closed but open and flexible a way out and for a "win-win" situation.
    • There is always a high risk of the words being spoken taken in a different meaning, a different context, a different emotion and this defeats the purpose of the communication itself and is harmful. Therefore the words should be used, while keeping the person(s) in mind and their state of mind and choice of words should be done carefully. There is a joke, where the teeth complain to the tongue that it you who makes mischief, but it is who get broken in return. In fact an old hindi proverb say, " It is your tongue that gets you the sweets, but it can also gets u beaten up."
In short, our policy should be to, "Speak less, speak good, speak with thought!" ,and that should serve the purpose. Raheem has also said," Aise Bani Boliye ,man ka aapa khoye, apna man sheetal kare, auron ko sukh hoye.",i,e, use your words always in a way to give peace and happiness to you and others.

I hope this above set of words, help you in improving your life and your world.

Why The world is without Peace!

The world is full of wars, battles and skirmishes going on. Wars have been going on since yime immemorial with hardly any respite ever. Our ancient forefathers also learned to make weapons and hurt others before they even learned to even write. Even today, battles are raging in the name of nations, religions, sects of same religions,  beliefs, property, language, caste, racism, capitalism, socialism etc. In fact such low scale warfare has costed more casualities than the larger theater warfare.
The smallest scale warfare is going in our own city, colony or the workplace too in form of conflicts and standoffs.
Well, it was bound to occur. How can the world be at peace, when the individual is not at peace. Two disturbed persons cant be at peace with each other.
After all, peace can not be purchased or received. It comes from the same place the disturbances come from, the mind itself!
The attempt for world peace begins actually only when I find the way to my own peace. The route is always the same- Tolerance, no judgement, forgiving and forgetting.
I first learn to be happy and peaceful with my own self and that is the hardest part. I have to accept myself as I actually am. the first person who needs forgiveness, love and compassion from me is nobody else myself.
The first mistakes to be forgotten should be my own. Then the same process with friends and family, than the neighbors and colleagues, than the colony and so on.
Peace is also contagious. If you dont believe try smiling at others. Most of your smilea will bw reciprocated immediately and do not worry, the other smiles have also done thier job as light of  glowworms in the night of misery of life of yourself as well as others and So will begin the journey of peace. Only a mind truly at peace with itself will initiate the transformation.

World peace will begin only when I, you and others, we all will learn to be at peace.

    Eliminating my enemies!

I had made many enemies. Well everyone does, especially those who are doing good. Some were at my workplace, some in my colony and Some in the relations as well. All of them wanted to see my downfall. Some of them, my greatest enemies, wanted to see my and my name completely destroyed. I had to be on my own guard to protect myself from their machinaction and evil designs. It was becoming more and more difficult to survive and be at peace. Thoughts of them used to rule in my mind before I slept and after I awoke. Sometimes thier evil presence ruined my dreams too.
Then i met somebody, somebody who taught me how to finish my enemies instead. I learnt an easy and successful way to eliminate my enemies.
    The way was very simple.
I developed friendship with them. It is better to win a friend than to destroy an enemy and the best way to be peace.
I was eliminating enmity instead of enemies and to have your enemy shed his enmity, it was me who had to do it first.
First of all I accepted them as other humans who had the common human failures. They were as prone to ego, self righteous approach, the folley of judging others as was I. They also misinterpreted words and attached motived to words or actions. You know, words are the worst form of communication possible. Every word, every phrase, every reference and example, every rise and fall in tones has separate intonations for separate persons.
In fact, what we hear in a sentence is what we actually think , the speaker likely to say. Shockingly, as soon as the speaker opens his mouth, we start forming our own version of what he is going to say, what he is saying and what he has said. Also, the same sentence has separate meaning and motive for us for separate speakers. Our own words are always wise and words of those we have faith in, such as our Guru, are gospel truths. However same sentences if spoken our enemies or considered lesser to us, we find them bookish, stupid or sometimes superficial or show off. This means than words have no fixed meaning for us and hence there is a hell lot of possibility of misunderstandings and confusions. Look around, such incidences happen on dozens a day basis, because we do't understand each other or keep judging others continuously with every word or action and the motives we attach to both of them. Even great wars like Mahabharat started with some thoughtless statements that were taken too seriously. Even the biggest conflicts in our family start with some misunderstood words.
Main reason we make enemies is because of the miscommunication and or the lack of communication.
Lack of communication can create fences between not only neighbors, colleagues or friends but also destroy completely the love between relatives and worst between a couple. The marriage counsellors, what do they do if not to emcourage the couple to have a conversation. Falling in Love was easiest, but loving each other enough to forgive them is the hardest part. This Great wall of silence can be so intimidating that nobody even dares to try to speak the first word.
We think that "Why should I say sorry or start the talk. It was I who was right. It was I who was hurt.". Funny! Everybody thinks himself right and considers himself the victim. It is absurd. In arguments humans are not right or wrong, it is the intolerance, the misunderstanding and most imprortant double standards what is wrong.
A land lord wants his tenant to behave differently than he used to do as  a tenant. A subordinates wants his boss to be less bossy than he he himself actually is. A mother in law finds the same behavior and action of the daughter in law objectionable ,which were correct when shes was the daughter in law. A father considers his fashionable son as misguided while the father himself followed the dressing of the movie stars of his own times. This is what we humans are prone to and therefore forgive other for being so.
This intolerance, self righteousness, the miscommunication and the lack of communication are the reason of maximum conflicts. We think the other is after us so we also should be after him.

Surprisingly, the older a conflict is , the bigger the problem is, the easier it is to be resolved also. All that is needed is the courage to take the first step to walk the distance, extend the first hand or speak the first word. Sometimes a "Hi!" will demolish the wall of silence and enmity faster than the Joshuah's trumpet and the walls of Jericho in the biblicale tale. Sitting down and talking it over can resolve most of the issues of the world. The problem is the lack of courage to initiate dialogue. I have seen years of conflict of groups of people resolving after a 30 minute chat. What is funny that sometimes the actual root of conflict was so miniscule and sometimes out of the memory to.
Another advice, " A good memory is a curse. Forgetfullnes is divine."
Why cherish the trash of the worst experience of our life in the mind! Do we keep broke glassware or torn shoes in the cupboard? Keep the mind also adorned with the brightest flowers of great memories and optimism just like your drawing room.
Also, never never ever be afraid to initiate the resoultion. Making the first call is not insulting but earns honour. It does not show weakness, it displays strength. It is not in any way inferior. Also you are doing it more for your own happiness and peace than for others.

So, when I developed the courage to walk the first step and shake hands, sit down to talk and extend arms to embrace my enemy, to forgive them for being what I also am like sometimes, that was the day I started eliminating my enemies.

Now I can't think of any existing enemies. I have eliminated all of them, by making them Friends.

    Quotes of Dalai Lama-3

A good friend who points out mistakes and imperfections and rebukes evil is to be respected as if he reveals the secret of some hidden treasure.”
The way to change others’ minds is with affection, and not anger.”
If you have fear of some pain or suffering, you should examine whether there is anything you can do about it. If you can, there is no need to worry about it; if you cannot do anything, then there is also no need to worry.”
Love and Compassion are the true religions to me. But to develop this, we do not need to believe in any religion.”
In the practice of tolerance, one’s enemy is the best teacher.”
Inner peace is the key: if you have inner peace, the external problems do not affect your deep sense of peace and tranquility…without this inner peace, no matter how comfortable your life is materially, you may still be worried, disturbed, or unhappy because of circumstances.”
The purpose of all the major religious traditions is not to construct big temples on the outside, but to create temples of goodness and compassion inside, in our hearts.”

Because we all share this planet earth, we have to learn to live in harmony and peace with each other and with nature. This is not just a dream, but a necessity.”
When we are motivated by compassion and wisdom, the results of our actions benefit everyone, not just our individual selves or some immediate convenience. When we are able to recognize and forgive ignorant actions of the past, we gain strength to constructively solve the problems of the present.”
It is under the greatest adversity that there exists the greatest potential for doing good, both for oneself and others.”
Irrespective of whether we are believers or agnostics, whether we believe in God or karma, moral ethics is a code which everyone is able to pursue.”
If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun.”
Peace does not mean an absence of conflicts; differences will always be there. Peace means solving these differences through peaceful means; through dialogue, education, knowledge; and through humane ways.”

    Quotes of Dalai Lama- 2

If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.”

Only the development of compassion and understanding for others can bring us the tranquility and happiness we all seek.”

Look at children. Of course they may quarrel, but generally speaking they do not harbor ill feelings as much or as long as adults do. Most adults have the advantage of education over children, but what is the use of an education if they show a big smile while hiding negative feelings deep inside? Children don’t usually act in such a manner. If they feel angry with someone, they express it, and then it is finished. They can still play with that person the following day.”
There is only one important point you must keep in your mind and let it be your guide. No matter what people call you, you are just who you are. Keep to this truth. You must ask yourself how is it you want to live your life. We live and we die, this is the truth that we can only face alone. No one can help us, not even the Buddha. So consider carefully, what prevents you from living the way you want to live your life?”
World peace must develop from inner peace. Peace is not just mere absence of violence. Peace is, I think, the manifestation of human compassion.”
All suffering is caused by ignorance. People inflict pain on others in the selfish pursuit of their own happiness or satisfaction”
A truly compassionate attitude toward others does not change even if they behave negatively or hurt you.”

The more you are motivated by Love,
The more Fearless & Free your action will be.”

We can live without religion and meditation, but we cannot survive without human affection.”
Old friends pass away, new friends appear. It is just like the days. An old day passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful: a meaningful friend – or a meaningful day.”

Hard times build determination and inner strength. Through them we can also come to appreciate the uselessness of anger. Instead of getting angry nurture a deep caring and respect for troublemakers because by creating such trying circumstances they provide us with invaluable opportunities to practice tolerance and patience.”
When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.”

Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.”

    Quotes of Dalai Lama-1

Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.”

Love is the absence of judgment.”

My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness.”
There is a saying in Tibetan, ‘Tragedy should be utilized as a source of strength.’
No matter what sort of difficulties, how painful experience is, if we lose our hope, that’s our real disaster.”

Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.”

Every day, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others; to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry or think badly about others. I am going to benefit others as much as I can.”

Silence is sometimes the best answer”

Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.”

Choose to be optimistic, it feels better.”
Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can’t help them, at least don’t hurt them.”

    Purpose of this Blog?

This blog is a small effort to share whatever little knowledge to improve life and happiness I have gathered by God's grace.
We, the God's own children are not meant to be wearied down by the daily life of bread and butter, carrier and status, small things and yet smaller countless things till life passes away. Our father in heaven wanted us to be Happy, Enjoy our stay on this planet, Hold our head high and be all that we could be. We are not the weak lambs that we have been led to believe from the childhood itself. Everyone of us has a Picasso, Da Vinci, Einstein, Mozart, Elvis or someone greater inside him. These were the people who believed themselves capable of more and more and more. Unfortunately, from the childhood itself, we learn to believe everyone but ourself. We learn only as much as we are asked to. We develop (i.e.discover) only as much of ourselves as life forces us to. We are like the She-Mammoth of "Ice age" movie who was raised by the possums and is now scared of eagles.
So, dear friend, welcome to the journey of Happiness, Peace, Success ending in the Self discovery and the Liberation.
Let us share, discuss, discover and spread Joy!

(p.s.- Most of these posts are written at one go on my cell. Kindly overlook the grammitical and syntax errors etc. Also, If you find these posts any little help, all I request is to plz carry foward to the next person.)

    Rich man wasn't rich till...

A rich man was not rich till he knew a poor man!
A poor man was not poor till he knew a rich man!

My human nature had programmed me to measure my success or competence only with respect to others. Now, this was a problem. This race with the next guy has no end. Nowadays an ad is regular on channels, where a couple is depressed coz their neighbour has a bigger car. Since there will always be the possibility of the neighbour having a bigger car or villa or pay package or smarter kid, coz there is no limit in such matters. Things are worse if I live in a metro or a posh colony.
A woods man was not unhappy till he met a farmer. The farmer was cool till he met the town people. The townpeople felt inferior when they visited the city and so on. There is simply no end.
As long as I evalauted my possesion in a relative manner, I was doomed to inherent inferiority and depression.

The secret is 'Satisfaction'. Satisfaction is not Lethargy or defeatism. It is the greatest virtue that keeps the noise out of the mind. It keeps the mind focussed, aware, efficient and a lot more productive. It makes me uncover and utilize my true inherent potential. The inherent potential of a mind is without limits and simply miraculous, once utilized. However, since I had lived the same way, had the same goals, and pretty much did mostly the same things as my predecessors and theirs and theirs, I had no awareness of this huge power of all powers.
Now that the awareness of awareness is downing, I judge my possesions and material success by the fulfilment of short, medium amd long term needs of me and my family. Anything extra is a surplus. Relieved of the pressure of wants (dangerous, unsatiable and endless) and needs ( lesser and satiable), now I can explore myself and I am happy with what I uncover. Every day more jewels come out of the treasure.
Living with satisfaction has not only made me calm, happier, focussed and more effective, but it has improved all aspects of my life including the career also, which I previously considered the measure of my success.
Satisfaction is also the very first as well as the critical step to Self Discovery and Final Liberation.
Again, the Satisfaction won't take birth in our mind tonight itself.
Just sow the seed and see the wonder. Just ask urself, whether I really need another dress, bigger car etc. No harm or bad thing if I spend over my needs. Dangerous only if I live by what others have.
So, dear friend, If Our needs are fulfilled and we have a bit more, hey we are the rich people! Enjoy!
