Evolution of MInd!

Evolution of Mind- From Sufferings to Happiness and from Struggling to Success.

Brain is a part of body.

Just as body goes through its phases of good and bad health, the brain does too.

just like the body that has infinite stages of health, from Exuberance to complete failure of systems, in the same way , the mind also goes through infinite stages from Awareness, sharpness and peace to complete insanity.

The various symptoms that tell us of mind is not feeling well are,
Mental Fatigue,
Anger,
Lack of clarity in thoughts,
forgetfulness,
impulsive reaction,
LACK OF SLEEP,

these, if not rectified, in very long run will give rise to : Anxiety, depression, Bipolar .....

Mostly when we go through a bout of anger or anxiety, we blame the situation or other person's behavior as the cause of our bad behavior or wrong choice of action and the mental suffering that we went though.

However, the same situation and the misbehavior of others would have been handled in a different wayr, by a mind that is calm and aware, leading to a different and favorable result.

The state of mind before entering a situation mostly decides the outcome of the situation. A calm mind can use even a difficulty to his own advantage.

This means, we have a choice . A choice of tackling life , situation and persons in a better way with a better outcome.

The choice is of keeping the mind at the best health of calmness, awareness and sharpness.

The way to do it is through care of body, esp brain by
1. 8 hours sleep.- Brain needs it very very badly and the body too, esp after 30-40
2. 4-5 lts water intake- Body is 65% water, brain is 75% water. if there is any Amrit in the world, it is Water itself,
3. Brain consumes 20% of Oxygen intake of body. Hence brain suffers first of oxygen shortfall by less breathing, shallow breathing, snoring, non ventilated rooms, tight clothes, belts, innerwear.
keep good breathing habits.
4. Diet with amino acids, protein- Nuts esp peanuts, milk, egg, fruits. Keep variety of fruits, dry fruits, vegetables , milk products in diet everyday

Care of Mind:

1.Acceptence: Accept yourself the way you are. Aceept family, friends, people as they are.

2. Forgiveness- Humans make mistake and learn by mistakes. Forgive yourself for everything you did or did not. Forgive others , they are all human too. Forgive as a selfish act, for your own best interest.
A practical way- "My Boss/family member/friend is ............. but he/she is far far better than ..............."
this allows you to see the goodness in all and in the world. Do it, once in a while. Only the first time is difficult. Results are great, instantaneous and you would surprise yourself.

3. Compassion to all- The best medicine and state of mind.

This is the path of mind from sorrow to happiness and from struggle to success.

NB: Medicines taken for sleep, anxiety, depression , if any should be continued. When one feels better, he can reduce or discontinue with consultation of doctor.

Universe- Do it Yourself!

Is the Universe Happy or sad?
Is it full of positivity or negativity?
Is it of hope or despair?

We decide.

Each of us sees the universe in his own reflection. Each of us see his own ambitions, weaknesses, fears and most importantly motives,  known or unknown to him, in others.
Each of us sees a world that runs as per his beliefs.

I create my universe.

If I develop happiness, positivity, optimism, trust, hope, acceptence and forgiveness, then I would see a Wonderful universe of Happiness and positivity.

If I develop negativity, hopelessness, cynicism, aversion, anger in me, I would find a nightmarish world.

We have a choice.

I made my choice.

The shortcomings of the Present Medical system.

The shortcomings of the Present Medical system.

What is mental health-

Common belief a- A person is either Sane or Insane with no stages in between.

Truth- Mind also suffers through deviations from good health just as body does. Thers is no 0-1 state of Sanity and Insanity, but infinite stages of deviation in between. As body suffers from fatigue, cold, flu etc. Mind suffers from Anger, anxiety, panic, stress, lack of sleep etc, most of which are reflection of the suffering of the body. A happy mind can not exist in a sick body, and a sick mind can not exist in a healthy body

What is a Healthy body?
Common Belief- A healthy body is a body not bed ridden.  Able to follow career and family activities.
Truth- A truly healthy body means,
Enthusiasm, energy, at the peak of performance.

Due to extreme compartmentalization,  the presnt medical science does not see the above big picture.

Example:
The physician treats the body and the psychiatrist treats the mind, as if Mind and Body are two separate non related entities. Result the balance of Body -Mind mechanisms is not restored, but symptomatic short term relief provided, while keeping the way open for other long term problems, as the original cause was neither identified nor restored.

Truth: Mind and Body are integrated throughout and work in harmony. The offset in one affects the other and again the first and the vicious cycle begins.

Example: Lack of sleep- Anger, anxiety- insomnia- Vicious circle.

Solutions: Taking good care of the body is also the assured way to take good care of mind to maintain mind at its highest efficiency and avoid deviations such as anger, anxiety, fear, panic, insomnia, depression etc except some extreme advanced cases.

The above is based on my studies and my own first hand experience.

The present psychiatry is mostly medicine oriented and based mostly theories of Freud and Jung, who almost ignored the Body Mind Intrgration.

However, the older schools of psychiatry believed in the integration.

Ibn Sinna (Avicenna, Egypt 10th century)'s treatise describes "Depression as a result of Brain Dryness,  i.e. Dehydration. "
He also describes an advanced case , " A rich man used to think himself a cow. He used to make cow like sounds and ask people to butcher him. His freinds failed in counseling him. Sinna went as a butcher and said, this cow is too thin, feed and fatten him, then I will come. The rich man started eating good, and soon his health had regained."
This was known to Sinna that mental afflictions are caused by lack of diet, sleep etc.

Also, old school western psychology believed the same principle. I came across Robert Burton (17th century).
In his book, The Anatomy of
Melancholy , drawing on numerous theories and the author's own experiences. Burton suggested that melancholy could be combated with a healthy diet, sufficient sleep, music, and "meaningful work", along with talking about the problem with a friend.

Summary -
Ruin your body- Ruin your mind,
Care of Body- Care of Mind.

N.B.- Any extreme cases should continue their medicines, while doing above, so that they can taper off their medicines.
